Growing Assurance - Food Safety On-Farm DESCRIPTION This program provides funds to help adopt assurance systems and best management practices at the farm related to food safety, biosecurity, plant and animal health, traceability and animal health. In the Growing Assurance Adoption Catalogue there are specific funded activity categories, cost share ratios, eligible practices and funding levels. HOW TO APPLY Review the program Terms and Conditions (below) and the Growing Assurance Adoption Catalogue in advance of completing your application form. Download the application form provided below. Complete in full and attach all required documents. Submit your application and supporting documents to your local MAFRD GO Office or send directly to: Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (MAFRD) PO Box 1240, 810 McPhillips Street Portage la Prairie MB R1N 3J9 Email: [email protected] Fax: 204-239-3180 When your application is received, MAFRD will assess your application based on eligibility criteria outlined in the Terms and Conditions and the Growing Assurance Adoption Catalogue. The assessment must be completed and you must receive a letter of approval from MAFRD, before you start your project. Once you have received an approval letter, you may start work on your project. It is your responsibility to review and follow all conditions outlined in the approval letter before you complete your project. All eligible project costs must be incurred after you receive your approval letter from MAFRD outlining any specific considerations or requirements, completion date and claims submission date. All capital expenses (including installation costs) must be directly related to the program or system and must be approved in writing, in advance, by MAFRD. If applicable, eligible in-kind contributions include labour or staff training only (at $20 per hour). They must be used to offset your share of the food safety cost share percentage. You can include these costs in the project budget estimate on your application. Once your project is complete, your claim must be sent to MAFRD by the claim deadline noted in your approval letter. To avoid any payment delays, ensure that your claim form is properly completed and all documentation including itemized receipts or other acceptable proof of payment is provided. When all information for payment is received, payment will be sent to you.
