part 2 President Sata this morning blamed ZRA officials for misleading Minister of Finance Alexander Chikwanda over the issuance of a statutory instrument that lifted 10% export duty and allowed export of copper concentrates. The President made a directive at State House this morning to Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Berlin Msiska to immediately start the preparations of the revocation of the SI. “You cannot export soil” “. “We need to create jobs”, President Sata said. President Sata urged young people not to erode the gains and sacrifices made by miners and freedom fighters. ================================================ part 1 Government has suspended the 10-per cent duty which was slapped on the export of unprocessed copper and several other minerals in raw forms for one year. Finance minister Alexander Chikwanda suspended the tax which had caused an outcry among the mining houses in the country which complained of limited treatment facilities locally. Through Statutory Instrument (SI) number 89 of 2014, Mr Chikwanda suspended the export duty on a catalogue of mineral ores and concentrates from October 4 2013 to September 30 2014.
