The invitee should offer to pay the bill out of courtesy, but the inviter should refuse the offer. If you are just friends and no one specifically invited anyone, then the bill should be split. If the woman offers to pay the bill, dont refuse. We live in the 90s and women should be secure enough to treat a man to dinner. Women want equal treatment at work and in the office therefore they should expect equal treatment in dating too. If a man tries to be polite and kind, he will end up looking old-fashioned and chauvinistic. Dont abuse the whole 90s womens equality thing, but dont be too shy to allow a woman to pick up the tab either. No one is born with the right to get away with never footing the bill; take turns treating each other (assuming both parties have jobs). If you find that you are spending all the cash (male or female), then dump your partner because they are not worth the money you work hard for.
