* * >Thoughts on Worship< (For the curious reader) Worship is not just standing up in church and squealing hallelujah. Worship is the daily expression of: submission, praise, reverence and adoration to God as we trek, in faith, the path set before us. Did you know that by just following Gods instruction you are worshipping him? Did you know that by allowing yourself to be used as a vessel by God is an act of worship? Did you also know that prayer is an act of worship? Witnessing to others about the eternal love of our supreme sovereignty, The I AM, is an act of worship. Of late I have been pondering on the question, why do some people limit worship to a particular time schedule, is that the amount of value that they have for God? Is that all that he is worth to them? Dont miss this, if we just worship because someone instructs or coerces us to, then the act ceases to be worship, it becomes just another action. It loses its sanctity. If you view worship as something tedious, then guess what, your not a true worshipper, and heres the truth, we are all striving to be true worshippers, so guess again, because you are not alone. Worship does not begin at baptism, it starts before. It is worship that leads to spiritual rebirth. Worshipping is a display of faith and we are all growing in faith. We have all had our moments when we felt like we were just hanging on to Jesus for dear life, at the end of the rope, at the end of our faith, some of us even fell (gave in) before we even saw the rope, pre and post baptism. My friends we are all in a spiritual warfare and it is impossible for you to be on the front-lines and not get hit. It is impossible for you to be in the vanguard and not witness family members dropping like flies, you losing your job, people standing against you for silly things that you may not be able to change, like your ethnicity (this goes for all because all races experience racism) your design, you getting sick and people starting to blame or refer you to some dark design (for example sorcery as the answer, but isnt God greater than sorcery-since sorcery is a pact made with lower level demons, I am just saying) and so on. The fact is that when you get hit you must get up, be like Jesus and seek God for help. If you think that Christ had it easy, my friend, you are dead wrong. Jesus grew up with his siblings all thinking of him to be strange, different and maybe even stupid. He was despised. Do we know what that means? Think of how the children who are shunned from their peers, the ones who get bullied, the confused child trying to figure out his orientation (pray to God that they find the right one, the devil is strong but God is stronger)...ponder on that, he was truly despised and still he never gave in to it. It is that confidence that we need, that in it self was worship, because he had confidence in God of his destiny. When the trials and tribulations come think of none other than Jesus, call on him in the morning, be like Jacob and wrestle with him, dont let go, prove your loyalty through faith and you will reap the rewards. If we didnt have the faith to believe that our worship is going to God, then where would our hearts be when we sing, pray or even attend church. Let us remember that going to church to plop down on a seat for a cute display is not worship. Sometimes I wonder about how God feels when he is on his throne looking down at the pantomime that his people play when they arrange themselves in his sanctuary. It really is something to think about. To sum it all up, worship is the daily declaration of ones love for God and it can be displayed in faith and actions. We worship God by making decisions that are according to his will. Going to church is good, it is where I go to get spiritually recharged every week, neither can I confine worship to the schedule time of praise and prayer in the church nor should I limit it to being inside the church walls. I get my worship on before I arrive at church, I keep worshipping in solitude after the church service and into the week. How do you worship?
