02: Drivers/Tools Building information Modelling is the process - TopicsExpress

02: Drivers/Tools Building information Modelling is the process of generating and managing data including geometry, spatial relationships, light analysis, geographic information, quantities and properties of building components. Typical BIM uses three-dimensional, real-time, dynamic building modelling software to increase productivity in the design and construction stages. BIM data can be used to illustrate the entire building life cycle; quantities and properties of materials can be extracted easily and the scope of works can be easily defined. Furthermore systems, assemblies and sequences can be shown in a relative scale to each other and relative to the entire project. Building information modelling (BIM) is not just a change in software or skill sets, it requires a paradigm shift from the traditional architect- contractor delivery process that is much more broad than simply selecting alternative software packages, or even ‘doing the same thing but in 3-D’. As an evolution of building, information modeling has a wide impact on all practices, affecting what each party does, the authority and responsibility they take, and how they are compensated. Case Study using BIM: Strata Tower, Abu Dhabi, UAE Building Information Modeling (BIM) Consultant: Gehry Technologies, Los Angeles & New York Information modelling analysis and simulation was used to create the building intelligent, environmentally responsive loruvre system that is house in unique, cantilevered exoskeleton structure. nocloudinthesky.wordpress/2013/01/page/2/ Read the articles and then start from the bottom to follow the thread.
