2nd Period Report: Hawks - 3 & Red Wings - 4 Well, this certainly wasnt an improvement in performance Hawks. Instead of being tied, now we are losing. Sigh. The Hawks offense started off on a fast-pace and appeared on track to regain the momentum, particularly when Sharp scored while on the power play to once again give the Hawks the lead. However, they were soon back to spending most of the time in their own end, as the Wings were quick to respond in kind and even eventually took the lead, setting the Hawks back on their heels. Though the PK, when slapped with a 4-minute penalty, has performed well and the power play also, those were wasted minutes. Defense wise, the Hawks also started off with a return to form, but they too eventually succumbed to the sense of self-doubt that seems to be plaguing this team tonight. Though there were bright spots: Crawford has kept them within 1 and the PK at the end (where they had to kill 4 minutes) were both handled masterfully. However, overall the Hawks are playing at a sub-par level. Keys to the Game: The Hawks must return to their championship form, like what we saw on Sunday against the Bruins. Both offense and defense are not performing up to snuff. Screening the goaltender and shutting down the shooting lanes is a good place to start. In Coach Q We Trust. GO HAWKS!!!
