34 years ago today, the day after Halloween, Roger and I married - TopicsExpress

34 years ago today, the day after Halloween, Roger and I married in a little white church with stained glass windows, in a little town called Lindale, Texas. The organist played Crown Him With Many Crowns as I walked down the aisle with my daddy. My dad whispered, Are can run now if you want. with a big grin on his face. He made me laugh. Roger sang to me at our wedding, With This Ring, I Thee Wed. The next morning of our Honeymoon....I heard a loud coming from the bathroom. Roger was making all these disgusting noises. I thought to myself, What did I get into. To be fair now, Roger learned fast of my drama and temper tantrums. At the beach Roger stayed in the ocean fascinated with the fish, and I lay on the sand with my Dr. Pepper fascinated with People Magazine. I have read a lot about people referring to their marriage as TOTAL BLISS. I guess Roger and I missed the train on that one. We were totally in love but learned fast that the only thing we had in common was GOD. lol However after 34 years we have developed a love for many common things: Theater, Art, Hiking, Antiques, Eating out. Loving on our children, sitting and hanging out on our porch swing. We have learned to finish each others sentences, argue about the stupidest things, having to have the last word. Roger in camo. I in classic black dress with heels. He loves to hunt any animal, I like to shop any store. 34 years.....Wow. The doors were not locked but we chose this long to stay together and develop a very solid twosome. Our struggles, were many, out trials deep. We held each other through many storms. And there were times our hands let go and almost did not make it. Our months and months of marriage counseling help glue us together. 34 years....our secret? Simple....FORGIVENESS. I love my man. I love him more today than when i first heard him spit grossly in the bathroom sink. He loves me more today than when I complained constantly and nagged him about not using his napkin. We are really a 34 year old....almost elderly couple, that are a mess. Our close friends and family know a lot about our scars. Our doors arent locked in our marriage yet we stay married and in love. I have packed my suitcases a lot and ran out the door, hoping my knight in shining armor would follow after me. That never happened. He let me do my drama thing, knowing I would always come back. Its our day! I am still in my PJs and my hair needs washed. Roger is bringing home some bagal sandwiches with his ugly Jesus sandals and shorts with holes in them. We plan a very romantic day....by watching our show on Netflix, THE BLACKLIST. If we have the energy we may go to Walmart for my supply of Dr. Pepper. I love my marriage. It took a lot of molding by God. We still are growing and still arent perfect. I love you sweetheart. Flaws and all. Thank you for loving me, drama and all. And you are still hot in my eyes!
