5.5 miles into my 6-mile walk from Downtown to the Belmont CTA and I come up behind this older but not elderly couple holding hands. I said nice as I always am excuse me. To which the man replied without turning around no. We didnt have to go much further for me to go around so I followed and meanwhile pondered why this guy would say no. Maybe a moment where hes going to say life is short and we shouldnt be in such a hurry. But no. I went by and he stuck up his middle finger at me. Then in a thick New York accent like all my Jewish relatives, she says What, you cant wait? Im mortified that everyone is in such a rush. God didnt rush. So I smiled. Laughed, really. And then I said, in my thickest New York accent which I turn on and off as needed Yeah? Well, God also never stuck up his middle finger. Hopefully thatll give them something to think about tonight as they yell as the server at whatever restaurant is lucky enough to get them.
