50 new low-cost airports planned Airports Authority of India (AAI) will develop 50 new low-cost airports across the country to cater for growing air traffic. The airports will reportedly be built over 10 years in an effort to reduce the cost of operation. Each airport is expected to cost Rs100 crore (R17,7 bn) to build. The Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems will also be upgraded at all existing major airports.
