A CHOICE BETWEEN A SHOWMAN AND A GENTLEMAN So okay we are - TopicsExpress

A CHOICE BETWEEN A SHOWMAN AND A GENTLEMAN So okay we are hearing Fayose is going to come back as Ekiti Governor. Have you met Ayo Fayose? I have. Hes a showman, an orator, even likable. But why did Ekiti people kick him out under Obj? And have they forgiven him so soon? This is a choice between a Fayemi, who is an intellectual and may be at worst snobbish, and a Fayose who is a showman, does not show he knows a lot about governance, though a grassroots politician. Could the Ekiti people, with all their PHDs and Professorships be merely reacting to the exigencies of time, and therefore mortgaging their future for a mess of pottage? Or could they be looking up to GEJ to come and develop them, as he promised, if his chosen one wins? Shouldnt they then return their ineffectual PHD certificates to the unis that issued them? I have often wondered at the use of getting these PHDs anyway. Like the Igbo man will ask PHD okpoole? How much money does it command? Moving on, if guyman Fayose is what the Ekiti people want, including all the drama that occasioned his first coming and more, then by all means let them have him. If the elections are clean, then so be it. Some said it is a rejection of APC, that the whole of Nigeria will vote PDP in 2015. i say why not? Are we not the most illogical, tragic people in the world? 16 years of complaining about how things are bad.. 16 years of steady emigration from the country, through the airports, seaports and the desert, even as stowaways. Yet we say gimme some more of that. I had some family members who voted PDP - or they said GEJ - in 2011. They said he was a good christian and Baba Adeboye asked them to vote for him. Some said lailai they will never be ruled by a gambari again. I asked if they wanted any change in Nigeria. They did what their sentiments and superstitions commanded. They were hard up then. They are even more hard up now. How can a people hope to do things the way theyve always done it and then want a change to happen? Isnt that what they call madness/insanity? 16 years under PDP, and what weve got is elitism, crass crony capitalism, and a few billionaire in Forbes magazine. What else? Some say APC isnt different. Well maybe. But weve got to learn how to get off the bus. You cannot keep complaining about every option thrown to you. If you do, then YOU are the problem with yourself. I believe when things are bad, its good to shift the furniture around a bit. Same furniture, same sitting room. Different arrangement to let some air in. I believe many yoruba people are making a huge mistake by sticking to this PDP thing. At best it is an expression of selfishness because they know that is where their breads could be hugely buttered all of a sudden. Their stance is not about the generality at all. It is not about a better Nigeria. So let Ekiti people choose what they want. But if we hear of any complaint about misgovernance, poverty, rascalism (i borrowed this word from Homer Stokes a politician in New Orleans in a movie O Brother Where Art Thou feat. George Clooney), vandalism, thuggery, and whatnot, let them know that never again will they be taken serious.. Let us now go and live happily for ever after...TOPE FASUA.
