A DROP OF WATER “To the Lord the nations are nothing, no more - TopicsExpress

A DROP OF WATER “To the Lord the nations are nothing, no more than a drop of water; the distant islands are as light as dust”. Isa 40:15 GNB Some time when you are far away from a city, go out on a clear night and look at the stars. If you are in Southern Africa, pick out the milky way, the Southern Cross and other familiar features of the night sky. But notice the millions of other stars. Then think that the light from them has taken millions of years to travel to this planet. It will make you feel very small indeed. But it will also start to impress on you the vastness of the universe. Isaiah thought big. He would not let the irritations, frustrations and sufferings of the people in exile deflect him from his lofty understanding of God. He reckoned that if his God was big enough to span the vast distance between Israel and Babylon, then he was big enough to be the God of the whole world. No one could ever have said of Isaiah, “Your God is too small”. Whilst Israel was God’s chosen people, the rest of the nations were nothing of significance. They were no more than a drop of water. Those countries far away were just like mere dust next to the vastness, glory and power of God. Never let your God become a small God, someone you can tuck away in your pocket so to speak. Always remember he is the Lord of the stars, the skies, the seas, the planets, the comets, the satellites and all the solar systems that ever will be. And he is the Saviour of Calvary, the Lord who strides forth on Easter Morning from the grave. PRAYER THOUGHT Lord of earth and sea and sky, I worship and adore you
