A couple of great photos from yesterdays meeting between Meriam Ibrahim, her family, and Pope Francis hours after her escape from Sudan. Ibrahim was sentenced to death and 100 lashes after refusing to renounce her Christian faith. She was forced to take her 20-month-old son into her prison cell and gave birth to her second child, Maya, while in shackles. After a year-long ordeal, and negotiations between Sudan, the Vatican and Italy, she fled with her American husband and children. She was blessed by the Pope during a private audience before flying to the United States. The family will move to the husbands home in New Hampshire, where his family eagerly awaits their arrival.
