A few more from the trip home today... I stopped off at the Herbig Family Tree in Springton. This large old gum tree was home to Friedrich Herbig when he arrived in Australia in 1855. He married in 1858 and the first two of his sixteen children were born and raised in the tree house until Friedrich built a wooden hut nearby in 1860. The tree is thought to be between 300 and 500 years old and has a diameter of seven metres at its base. It stands 24 metres tall.
