A friend of the Shame Files shared this. Lies, lies and Queensland Politics. Today, another police emergency declared in Brisbane, the third in about as many days. This time a suspicious package at police headquarters...which turned out not to be suspicious! After shutting three city streets right on peak hour. Another beat-up. Having introduced absolutely draconian laws for the outlaw bikies it is becoming obvious that the Queensland Police are deliberately trying to reinforce the view of this terrible Premier by staged emergencies. The Queensland Premier claims he has a mandate based on views of the silent majority....so far no Queensland journalist has asked the obvious question about surveys that prove this...but of course the media is dominated by Murdoch so no surprise there. But there is a survey that showed only 7 (seven) per cent of the public actually support these new laws! Must be a really silent majority! Even more worrying, the Anti-corruption watchdog, the CMC has today publicly declared its support for the State Government in this matter. This is an organisation which by definition, is meant to be an independent body! And then we have the endless recount, lost voting papers of some of the minority parties who won Senate seats in the recent federal elections. Australians are great at smugly pointing out corruption in third world countries....but like the beam in their own eye somehow seem to not notice the massive corruption in Australia! On the positive side several very senior people from the Judiciary are attacking these laws and they will certainly be challenged in the High Court of Australia but the outcome is not guaranteed to come down on the side of liberty and freedom of association. It is surely time for people to wake up that politicians do not, ( they probably never did) feel they are accountable to the people. The people, fast asleep, have fallen for the old line...if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear....... thanks to Juanita Ball. Shame Newman, Shame.
