A very disappointing decision for rural business owner Letter to editor: We vote for a council to help us live, work and respect one another and our community. We are always asked for input into our community, but council does not listen. Meetings appear to be an inconvenience for members. Again the small business person has been pushed out of the way due to old bylaws that make no sense. Rural communities are unique. They must live and work together for the better of all residents, not just a few. We are unique in what we are. The community supports Oak Ridge Horticultural Farms. They provide a service, jobs, support for other small businesses and unfailing community service. If you follow the line of thinking of council, and just stand by the law, council would put a father in jail for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his starving family. No independent thought, just follow the rule of law. The bylaw is not set in stone. These bylaws need to be looked at for guidance. Then each case looked at independently. Just because it is law, it is not justice. The law is one component, justice (the right thing to do) is another with equal importance. Justice is what is required for Oak Ridge Farm.
