AAP has always maintained that the FYUP course, in its current form must go. I am very glad that finally the decision has been made to scrap it. This should bring relief to several students & their families which had gone through several days of tension & uncertainty. A few more things need to be done which include • The admissions process for the current academic year must be immediately resumed by making appropriate adjustments for the transition back to the original scheme. • The interest of the students who took admission in FYUP last year and those who have applied for B Tech course this year must be protected by making appropriate adjustments. • The VC, the Registrar and other key officials of the DU must step down so as to own up their responsibility for the current mess; theVisitor must step in to reign them in or if necessary remove them. • The Chairman, UGC must step down for his dubious role in first allowing the introduction of FYUP and now forcing its rollback, and compromising the independence of the regulatory body.
