(( debi )) September 8, 2014 An Ohio dog warden was indicted Friday on four felony counts of animal cruelty, according to Saturday’s Toledo Blade. Rich Strunkenburg, the dog warden and Van Wert County’s only humane law enforcement agent, had been put on paid administrative leave in July during an investigation into conditions at the shelter. The investigation was held after the sheriff’s office received a complaint of unsanitary conditions at the shelter. Investigators found three dogs and six kittens dead in their kennels, according to Sheriff Tom Riggenbach. Some had died two or three days earlier, and their bodies still remained in their kennel or cage. Some of the kennels appeared not to have been cleaned in weeks, he said.
