AUTUMN LIFE REMINDERS Today I saw trees with bright elegant colors Igniting the air with their autumn hues. I saw the leaves free fall from their branches Gracefully, majestically, spent, over. I saw grasses, dry, leaning in the wind Wondering where they wanted to go. As they strained in some particular direction. I saw signs that winter was nigh And the fall passing. And I asked myself if that was my life, too. Was I in the autumn of life? My colors magnificent but fading. Perhaps. But, I recalled to mind, That though my time slips away, Yet, I am here, merely passing Waiting, Preparing In anticipation For the best and real life There in heaven Where colors do not fade, Where grasses do not dry out Where leaves never fall. And I live in springtime eternally With the Eternal One.
