About one year ago at Kirigiti Stadium, this is what Governor William Kabogo Gitau promised us: 1. We promised you jobs. We will seek investors to expand our horizons, we will build a City not a Town, we can combine the resources and diversity of Juja, Thika, Kiambu,Ruiru, Kikuyu and Limuru to be a great Modern City 2. The County Government will negotiate for immediate access to credit in the form of soft loans, to enable our youth start their small business, that in turn will employ their peers. 3. We know most of our youth have young families, we will ensure that there is quality and compulsory education for their children until they are 18. Never again will children be out of school because they cannot afford, or in the streets because they are not trained. 4. Within twelve months, The Kiambu County Government will ensure there is medicine in all Public health centers and dispensaries 5. Within the same period we will ensure that there is adequate clean drinking water across the county. 6. We will also ensure that our roads are motorable so that our farmers can get their produce to the markets. 7. We will also ensure that we have efficient garbage and waste water disposal system in our cities and towns within the first 3 years 8. We will plant and germinate the seeds of the future, we will supply solutions on best farming methods, new plants,research and even design technology that allows a farmer to manage small and big farms and also to communicate and protect their produce and products. 9.As a way of creating even more jobs, we will make Kiambu the Capital of Kenyan Entertainment, we have the best locations for filmmakers and designers of music videos. The County Government will package our recreation centres such as Paradise Lost, Water Falls and even forests as perfect areas to incubate entertainment ideas. 10. We will offer incentives for real estate developers and encourage them to have low rental charges so as to ensure our young people can afford to stay there. People all over the World will book flights to write papers about how a small county and its people took a decision in Kirigiti to transform themselves and they did so in five years. Lets pick our best players in Football, Swimming, Volleyball, Pool and we will sponsor them into National Leagues and that, will also create activity for our youth. To that old mama mboga with her vegetable business I promise you I will make it easy for you. To that young man with education and a dream and no income, I will work to make that a thing of the past. As your Governor, I dedicate the first two weeks of April to you the People of Kiambu. If you have an idea, write it down and either email it, bring it to our offices or place it in special baskets that we will provide in every market, supermarket, salon and bus stage. We will evaluate all the ideas and adopt those we can immediately. I shall be your servant, not your boss. I will listen to you and will organize many forums for you to update me as I share our plans with you. PLEASE KEEP US ON THE RUN, DO NOT WATCH US SLIDE;REMIND US OF THIS SOLEMN PLEDGE EVERY TIME. Ladies and Gentlemen, its now time to stop talking and work. For it is written, in Galatians 6 verse 9 ...Persevere and let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.
