After an unfortunate incident in Lyon, France and being robbed of - TopicsExpress

After an unfortunate incident in Lyon, France and being robbed of things most dearest to me the Horror of realizing your passport is amongst the things gone is not a pleasant feeling at all.. However whats more shocking and sad to see is the manner in which the Paris Kenyan Embassy chose to handle my case. Even after contacting the embassy, yes given it was a Saturday but within 2 hours of being robbed and thereafter on numerous occasions including Sunday both by mail and telephone, attaching both copies of my passport, ID, Visa, insurance documents and so forth there was still no response until I communicated on Monday and by this time well into the afternoon. To my amazement no attention was payed to my emails as I was asked to send the above documents that were already attached to the emails received. The member of staff that dealt with me had no idea where their offices were located within Europe as I was first assured I could collect a letter of authorized travel without a passport to go home from Amsterdam being my point of departure, only later to discover with my insistent chasing up to be casually apologised to and told Im sorry I forgot our offices are not in Amsterdam but the Hague with all these Mistakes and frustration (leaving out a large portion of the unhelpful back and forth ) i asked to speak to someone of authority to see if i could get the assistance i needed, the response was the only person above me is the Ambasador my response was simple in that case I would like to speak to the Ambassador after waiting a while the Ambasador did call me back but was I in for a surprise.. Choosing to abrubtly interrupt my explanation of the issue at hand with her department and the errors that had occurred of which was now resulting in a cost to me of over 120 Euros just for the mailing of this letter. Her response was baffling.. She first chose to indirectly THREATEN me and tell me the possibilities of me being locked up in a particular area in France that she knows all to well to be a horrible place because i was as good as an illegal in some officers eyes and how because of the holiday approaching (eid mubarak) I would not see a member of the embassy until the next week. With that said she also chose to state the embassy has no budget for sending documents to me bearing in mind even though the faults and delays were brought about by her office and its incompetence and thereafter she even had the odasity to taunt me and say that surely if Ive come to Europe I can cover the cost of the letter. Madame Ambasador Salma Ahmed I DID NOT get in touch with you for a charity case or a hand out I got in touch with you as the head of your institution and as the responsible figure of authority who can correct errors when needed and give aid to those in need. I as a LEGAL, LAW ABIDDING and TAX PAYING KENYAN CITIZEN am in shock at your lack of courtesy and professionalism and the manner in which you chose to handle my case. I must congratulate you on a text book example of why certain stigmas still surround various Kenyan governmental institutions and the hinderence of our movement forward. THANK YOU AMBASSADOR Salma Ahmed and your very efficient members of staff! @Kenya Embassy Paris
