Ah, Travelodge. The true alternative to living under hedge covered - TopicsExpress

Ah, Travelodge. The true alternative to living under hedge covered in twigs. Although perhaps not the preferred option. After the multiple f*ck ups from last years ReGenesis tour culminating in an overnight stay in a hotel so bad that I imagine refugees from war-torn Syria would be reaching for the customer complaints form, I swore I would never go there again. But this morning I found myself looking for a cheap hotel somewhere in West London. The Travelodge master computer (I picture it as a gently smoking Sinclair ZX81 covered in cobwebs) recommended Heston Services at a remarkable rate of £26.00 for my specified date. Foolishly I clicked book online. It immediately asked me to confirm that I wanted a room for 27th July (approximately 6 weeks away from my specified date) for £62.00. I changed the date. It then informed me that the room wasnt available but fortunately there was a room available in Berwick on Tweed (significantly north of Newcastle) which, according to its calculations, was 26.9 miles away from Heston Services on the M4 near Heathrow. Failing that, I could go for the Travelodge at Newcastle Airport, which is apparently 28.5 miles away from Hestn Service on the M4 near Heathrow. I made my virtual excuses and left. Wheres Lenny Henry when you need him?
