Al Qaeda is in a dead heat with ISIS to garner mindspace, money and recruits. Yesterday it attacked Karachi harbour. They were supposed to have briefly gained control of a Chinese-made F22P-type Zulfiqar class frigate. The idea being to commandeer it to attack a US aircraft carrier. These frigates carry CSS-N-8 Saccade missiles, each of which have a small radar reflectivity, low attack flight path (5 to 7 meters above the sea surface) and strong anti-jamming capability of its guidance system, target ships have a very small chance of intercepting the missile. The single shot hit probability of the Yingji-82 is estimated to be as high as 98%. The missile have a range of 280 KM. AQ claims to now have Pakistani naval personnel in its wing. The attackers, per AQ, were former Pakistan Navy officers-turned-jihadists after training in AQ camps. The idea was to celebrate 9/11 anniversary with a big bang.
