Alrighty, its time to reveal our second record setting item from yesterdays eventful chest unpacking. Along with our 1860 tasty morsels that we found, we also pulled out of the chest the oldest dated newspaper weve ever come across (and weve come across quite a few oldies in our time). The paper was printed by the New York Morning Post on Friday, November 7th, 1783! In case your history is a little rusty, that was the year the revolutionary war ended. Actually the paper was printed a mere two months after the war officially ended with the signing of the treaty of Paris. The paper is in pretty darn good condition for its age, and you can actually see in some area the embossing of the printing letters. One of the articles in the paper is entitled General Washingtons Farewell Orders to the Armies of the United States. So, was it worth the wait?
