An Impassioned Call for Transformational Social Evolution Posted: 27 Jun 2013 08:36 PM PDT Animal rights is the greatest social justice issue of this century. Every year, BILLIONS of animals are killed for human consumption and more than 50 MILLION fur-bearing animals are brutally slaughtered without mercy in the name of fashion by an egocentric society. To address the issues of the fur industry is to address the complexity of the human condition and our collective consciousness, which perceives fur as a commodity, a status symbol, rather than the skin of a once living, sentient being. The question is, “How do we define luxury in our society?” The more we feed into ego consciousness and its false sense of power, the larger it will become. Ego feeds itself, causing diabolical destruction in its wake, attempting to fill a void that cannot be filled without the revelation of truth and what is really sought after. My film will interpret from the “soul perspective” rather than graphic reportage, bridging the link to cruelty from a deeper level of the psyche to help heal the “condition of disconnect” in our society. It will explore the sociological and spiritual factors that contribute to the iniquitous and inhumane treatment of animals in our society, with its center on the fur trade as a paradigm of a more pervasive nemesis permeating our world. The film will also expose the China dog and cat fur trade, a largely unknown animal protection issue, and bring it into the international spotlight. What compels anyone with a beating heart to look into the eyes of a loving being and take away its breath of life? What is the condition that disconnects the heart [the organ that gives life] to the suffering and death caused by such inhumanity? How could anyone feel glamorous wearing the skin of a dead animal – are they not comfortable in their own skin? How little do we value ourselves if so much value is given to everything outside of ourselves? Does our way of life reflect our moral, ethical and spiritual principles? The perpetrators and the people who support the atrocity disconnect from its cruelty and perpetuate the condition. Unless we heal the source of inhumanity, the disease will prevail. Any lesser remedy will be akin to applying a bandage to a severed limb. My film will delve into the core of the human condition, its effect on society, the animals, and the earth. When we can come to understand the impetus that propels the darkness, only then can we induce the light and illuminate consciousness. Through the revelation of spiritual truth, the film will awaken the collective conscience of humanity, and in turn, impact consumer demand that subsidizes animal cruelty. The truth remains that the nemesis will continue to thrive until we speak our voices – our purchasing power is our strength and a vital force in sustainable change on our planet. CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The Voices That Can’t Speak is a spiritually evocative film, an impassioned call for a paradigm shift in consciousness and transformational social evolution. Speaking from the soul perspective, the film’s message will bring to light the underlying nemesis and spiritual crisis of an egocentric society and its consequential effect on the animal kingdom and the earth. The animals, the earth, the human species are ONE inseparable soul energy. When we disconnect from the suffering of sentient beings, we disconnect from our own suffering. The animal kingdom is the conduit to the light, to our own evolution – that is the sacrifice they are making on planet earth. Their unconditional love is a channel to self-love and the awakening of our planet. The power of respect will change our world – respect for ourselves and respect for life. Like many of us who make great strides to awaken consciousness, we know the fortitude we must muster in our dedication to make the world better. We often experience discouragement and disappointment. But the true spiritual warriors will prevail, and indeed, create transformational change on our planet. Blessings, ©Kathleen Lowson Filmmaker CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The Voices That Can’t Speak
