An intense political struggle has erupted between USM and white - TopicsExpress

An intense political struggle has erupted between USM and white left-affiliated forces in Gainesville, Florida (where we are holding our national convention) with regards to a planned meeting on white anti-racism that was organized by forces who deliberately excluded individuals associated with the Uhuru Movment from participating in the organizing of this event. Most of this struggle has taken place in response to a facebook post I made calling out the organizers for failing to invite the Uhuru Movement. In one of the slanderous, profanity-laden remarks published by one of the organizers of the event, the question was raised about what exactly the Uhuru Solidarity Movement does. Although the question was being asked in a disingenuous manner, I feel it is worth clarifying this issue: As an organization under the leadership of the African Peoples Socialist Party, we organize in the white community to raise resources as reparations to African people. That is the main thing we do. Our work is rooted in material solidarity. We raise resources which we turn over to the work of the African Peoples Socialist Party which is building concrete, African-controlled economic development and self-determination programs worldwide. We engage in this based on the Partys understanding that the wealth in the white community is the accumulation of stolen loot and exploited labor of Africans and other oppressed peoples. That is our responsibility as white people and it is based on opposing colonialism, which is far more honest and more challenging than sitting around having discussions about privilege and bad ideas in our minds. No amount of unlearning racism workshops will dismantle the colonial system of white power that dominates African people. African self-determination is what dismantles that. This is not my idea. It is the understanding of the African Peoples Socialist Party and it is one that is being grasped and fought for by African people on every continent, and is gaining international recognition: https://youtube/watch?v=CF7yQUYPZxM The ego accusations distract from the fact that these attacks ultimately stem from a political opposition to the Partys definition of the reality faced by African people as colonialism, not racism. If youre white and you focus on fighting colonialism then you organize in material solidarity with African Revolution. If youre white and you focus on fighting racism then you engage in talkfests regarding checking your privilege and working through your racism. At the end of the day, thats what this is about, and I am glad the struggle between these two ideologies and how they manifest on a practical level are being exposed for others to see.
