Another myth bites the dust Eating clean/healthy is - TopicsExpress

Another myth bites the dust Eating clean/healthy is Boring While this oft-used excuse sounds good on the surface... Lets take a slightly deeper look. So if we expand this the hypothesis seems to be: There are many fewer healthy/clean options of foods/recipes/meals than there are of not-so healthy/clean options. I think there are two key underlying issues here: 1) lack of familiarity with clean/healthy options so the comparison is made to a small subset 2) assuming that clean/healthy options all taste like cardboard and wont be enjoyable And, what do both of these really come down to? I dont want to do the work - to find more options - to go through a transition and give up my food crutch Or, lets take a look at it from the other direction. Most of us are creatures of habit. We eat the same things for breakfast, lunch and dinner - going to the same restaurants, cooking the same meals at home and grabbing the same snacks. I have no statistics but Id be willing to go out on a limb and say that most of us have no more than 2 dozen of each meal that we eat regularly. And, thats generous. The only reason eating the Standard American Diet (hmmm, any coincidence this can be shortened to SAD??) is exciting is because youre on a constant physical, mental & emotional roller-coaster from the highs/lows of nutrient-deficient food, sugar and other garbohydrates(tm). In reality: There are thousands of cookbooks, websites, blogs etc out there with millions of healthy/clean recipes of all varieties. There are an endless array of healthy delicious recipes and even treats out there. After a transition period from the engineered foods you wont even crave them anymore. So, lets be honest and call it what it is clean eating is boring is a cop-out. If you still dont want to switch, thats cool. Your choice. Just respect yourself and others enough to be honest about it and own it. If youve got questions on making the switch hit me up and Ill gladly talk you through some transition tips and point you to some of my favorite resources.
