Any advice would be appreciated: Im struggling to put weight onto my 7 year old mare. Ive had her teeth done two months ago and on Saturday the dentist came out to check again, her teeth seem fine. Shes been on a four week course of Omepracote and weve done a worm count, she has no worms. Her diet: AM: 1.5kg Equus Cool n Perform Speedi-Beet 4kg Oathay Lunch time: 1kg Equus Cool n Perform Speedi-Beet PM: 1.5kg Equus Cool n Perform Speed-Beet 4kg Oathay Slice of Lucern She is turned out from 8:30am to 5pm in a paddock where she grazes. She is a novice endurance horse, so not in hard training. Shes ridden 50km per week at a trot with a lightweight rider. When ridden, she is extremely hot. The amount of food shes getting is double the amount that I give her brother who is in hard training, and the only weight problem he has, is keeping it down. Ive also put her on a pro-biotic because when ridden she has a runny tummy from over-excitement. She is rugged, because shes shaved and it is cold here - she doesnt sweat in her rug, but when I remove it, she shivers. Is there anything else I can do to get her weight up?
