Arrest : Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriffs Office report the arrest of William M. Knox, 44, of Kingston, NY. Mr. Knox was charged with the Felonies of Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Contempt in the First Degree and the Misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. On October 7th, 2014 at approximately 9:37 PM, Deputies responded to a 911 Call reporting a violent physical Domestic Dispute in progress at an apartment building located on Girard Street in the Connelly area of the Town of Esopus. Upon arrival at the scene, Deputies located a female victim who was conscious and bleeding from the head. The female reported that Mr. Knox had assaulted her and struck her multiple times in the head and body with a metal baseball bat and ran from the apartment. The female was transported by ambulance to the Kingston Hospital Emergency Room where it was learned that she had suffered a fractured vertebrae as a result of the assault. Through investigation it was also learned that Mr. Knox had violated an Order of Protection issued to the victim against Mr. Knox on July 14th, 2014 by the Town of Esopus Court. Deputies attempted to locate Mr. Knox and an Arrest warrant for Mr. Knox was eventually secured from the Town of Esopus Court. On October 8th, 2014, Mr. Knox was located on Broadway in the City of Kingston and taken into custody without incident. Mr. Knox was processed at Sheriffs Headquarters and arraigned in the Town of Esopus Court on the above charges and remanded to the Ulster County Jail with No Bail. Mr. Knox is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Esopus Court on Tuesday October 14th, 2014 at 5:00 PM. Deputies were assisted in the investigation by members of the City of Kingston Police Department, the New York State Police, the Ulster County Sheriffs Office Detective Unit and the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
