As Antigua & Barbuda looks for answers to reverse a dismal 27.2 per cent pass rate in mathematics at the CSEC level, radical changes have been announced in England to tackle a similar slide there. Students who get lower than a C in Math and English at GCSE level will now be required to keep studying the subjects until the age of 18. Local mathematician Anthonyson King said education officials here should pay attention to the changes there, but advised them not to follow suit – at least not yet.
