As I studied tonight on the sacrifice a man makes for his family - TopicsExpress

As I studied tonight on the sacrifice a man makes for his family and for his bride, it brought to mind the humbling way a man purposes to his bride to be. The women he loves the most, his partner in life. A man is called by God to lay down his life for his bride, and he is to love his bride like Christ loved the church. Let me show you why this is important. When a man wants to purpose to his choice of bride he lowers himself to one knee and raises his eyes to her. In this action he is not only telling her that I value you above myself but I also hold you in my highest regards. I see the bending and lowering to one knee as a gesture of showing her we as men are willing to lay down our lives for her but also lift her up. Now if that as men is the greatest gesture in purposal of a union of two flesh and bone souls it should mirrior Christ in its likeness. It should mirrior the same way Christ himself purposed and became engaged to his bride the church. Now I will remind that at this moment Jesus Christ is not married, but the bible says he will be. He is engaged to be married. Can you remember how Jesus purposed marriage to his choice of bride, the church. See if this helps, Jesus did not get down one knee because for him there was a much greater form of love that he could show and model for all mankind in a marriage proposal. When Jesus purposed to his bride he looked to the heavens strechted out his arms and died. husbands love your wifes as Christ loved the church and GAVE HIMSELF UP FOR HER - Ephesians 5:25. Jesus Christ purposed to his bride on the cross, and the wedding date is still coming. We are commanded men to lay down our lives for our wives because that is the example of love that Christ set for us when he himself gave his life for his bride the church. When he gave his life for me...for you... for us. No greater love have any man than he that lays down his life for those he loves. - John 15:13
