As much as I love thrash metal, the whole genre in of itself is - TopicsExpress

As much as I love thrash metal, the whole genre in of itself is ironic and kinda set up to make you hate the bands you once loved. I mean think about it, thrash metal has this motto to stick it to the man as they say. Anti-government, anti-establishment, and especially anti-marketing. Heres where it gets interesting. You have an underground band like (here it comes) Metallica from the bay area. You love them so much, you praise them and constantly share their demo tapes. They get signed and make money (literally, it becomes their job) and all of a sudden, they become enemies. The terms poser and sell out come into play, why? How did they even get that contract in the first place? YOU MADE THEM BECOME PROFITABLE. You, the FANS, put them up high, then as soon as they get somewhere, you resent them. Now I can find some hypocrisy in certain bands that are ONLY in it for the money, but the bands that are put on blast are all still in it for the music. Where does this repetitive cycle come from? What are some of your views on the subject (for those who actually read the whole thing rather than skimming over it haha)?
