As my knowledge of birds grows, so does the variety of food that I offer. Its reached the point where my arms were so full I couldnt open the door this morning. I had the jug of Nyjer seed for the finches, the pitcher of cheap seed for the big feeder (squirrels and deer), the pitcher of expensive seed for the finches, chickadees and wrens, the suet nuggets and pecans for the woodpeckers (squirrels) and feed corn for the squirrels and deer (that no one ever eats). At least I dont have to make and carry the pitcher of simple syrup for the hummingbirds (squirrels) this late in the year, I replaced that feeder with a suet/nut cake for the woodpeckers, nuthatches, wrens and chickadees (squirrels). Bird watching is an expensive yet rewarding hobby, and the squirrels and deer greatly appreciate my efforts.
