Assalamualaikum OSM people! Sister Aneesah here. So much in this world starts with family and the relationship between two people. Heres some golden advice from Ustaz Nouman in one of his khutbahs, based on a portion of the last ayah of surah Al-Asr (...advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience) -- ‘Part of fixing our relationships -- all of our friendships, family relationships, part of that is honesty. There are so many people who dont honestly tell their parents that theyre being hurt. They dont honestly tell their children that their words are hurting them. They dont honestly tell their husband or their wife how they truly feel. And you know why they dont say it? Because they say, “Well if Im honest, then it might create a fight.” “They might get really angry at me.” Let me tell you, when you keep bottling your emotions up, thats not sabr. Thats just you collecting more gunpowder and eventually it will explode. Its all gonna come out and it will get really ugly. We have to get into the habit of using the truth in our relationships, yet at the same time maintaining a demeanour of love and respect and concern for the other.’ -- Ustaz Nouman Ali Khan
