At Menards today, I witnessed a man acting suspicious. I suspected mischief was at hand, sensing a prank was about to take place. I stood back and watched as a guy put on a werewolf mask in the Halloween isle. He came around the corner, hunched over snarling and growling. Stomping his feet with his hands raised up in the air like claws, he charged toward his family. His young daughter let out a blood curdling scream as she ran several feet down the isle, taking refuge behind her Mom. Clinging tightly to her moms leg, she peeked around, to keep an eye on the bad man. Dad took off the mask. He was laughing hysterically. After giving the initial scornful look of disapproval, Mom cracked a smile, then joined in the laughter. The little girl, let out an exasperated, Daaaad! She started laughing too, as she made her way over to give Dad a big hug. He was buckled over, holding his stomach, with tears in his eyes from laughing. His voiced pitched high, as he tried to talk while simultaneously attempting to catch his breath and regain composure. He said to his daughter, I really got you that time. No you didnt. She replied, I knew it was you! Still laughing, he said You should have seen your eyes, and the way you screamed and ran behind your Mom...I got you! He was slapping his knee, still cracking up. I gave Dad a thumbs up, looked at the little girl and said, He definitely got you. Mom agreed. It was fun to share in their moment of playful surprise, and family fun. It made me miss having our girls here...not that I would ever do that to them...Im just saying....it was fun to watch.
