Attention Veterans in the Los Angeles Area: Dear Veterans, Service Providers and Advocates, On behalf of Mayor Eric Garcetti, we are pleased to announce the inaugural 10,000 STRONG Hiring Event, sponsored by our partner, Goodwill Southern California and in collaboration with Congressmen Javier Becerra, DOL, EDD, and the LA City & County Work Source Centers. This event is a reverse hiring fair for veterans and employers. WHAT IS A REVERSE HIRING FAIR? A reverse hiring fair is when pre-screened, veteran applicants attend the 10,000 Strong hiring event and are interviewed on the spot with employers who are currently looking to fill positions for their companies. Pre-screening allows for the best possible match between a veteran and a job opportunity. Every veteran who enrolls by October 28th will be assigned an employment specialist who will help them prepare for the event AND their future job search. WHAT IS THE 10,000 STRONG INITIATIVE? The 10,000 Strong” initiative is a coalition of over 160 Employer Partners, in both the public and private sectors, united around a common goal of hiring 10,000 local veterans by 2017. WHO WILL BE AT THE EVENT? • Over 30 Employers looking to hire a veteran NOW! • Over 200 veterans who will have on-site interviews.
