Audrey Update: Lauren just texted us to say that Audrey may not need the surgery this week after all! They ran a catheter and examined the heart/vessels and the pulmonary artery errantly attached to the aorta instead of the heart, so already oxygenated blood is going through the left lung...that means its not quite what I said earlier. The prenatal duct (the D from PDA in the last post) is already gone. This also means shes not at immediate risk of building up blood pressure, so they dropped the prostaglandins and may drop the surgery. They are going to deliberate with the main surgeon tomorrow, but 2 of the 3 decision makers at the hospital are now fairly confident that they can hold off until she is older and maybe (or even maybe not) do the surgery to connect the artery to the heart at a later date. She will have to go in for a number of follow-up visits for the next few months to make sure everything is okay, but it looks pretty good that she wont have to have surgery this week. Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers today. I would say this is a hugely miraculous blessing! Continued thoughts and prayers for the doctors, Audrey, Will, and Lauren.
