Azerbaijan is the leading post-Soviet country for the volume of direct foreign investment. A total of $150 billion has been invested in the national economy in the last 10 years. More than $25 million was invested last year alone. Thirty per cent of that was foreign investment. There is great confidence in Azerbaijan’s successful and long-term development because the steps taken in the direction of the country’s development in the past several years produced specific results. The population of Azerbaijan, our citizens see the benefits of independence in their daily lives. Private enterprise development, the attraction of foreign investment and the channeling of public investment into priority sectors of the national economy have created these favorable conditions.
