BSMT/Mar.Eng- students, should realize the reality of our profession. Its like looking into the vast ocean, youll never know what lies beyond the horizon or staring at the deep waters youll never know whats beneath until you indulge/dive into it. Its not about seeing the world for free or girls and money. Its about sacrifice for our dreams and our family. When i was still at college my dream was to become a seaman, now that i am already working on board the vessel, i realize that it was a mistake to say that! because hell i think no one on earth would want to be a seafarer if there would be another option. Its only a way for us to fulfill our dreams in life, but to say that seafaring is a dream for me its not. Big dreams most times amount to huge sacrifice, and seafaring is that sacrifice. I cant recall any instance that any seafarer said its so nice on board or its so fun here or i like to stay here for a long time, because being on board is like hell or prison. No wonder why the cliche goes hapit na mahuman imung sentinsya bai! when your about to finish your contract this is the most common line that you hear from your crew mates, because its really similar to be like in prison. We seafarers have many wants and needs in life, some of us wants to own a new house, new car or put up a business of our own, but what we most have in common is we endure all of the pain and danger life on board could bring just to provide the needs of our family, our love ones, to give them a better life. So after watching this video you better think twice cadets, because by now you might be saying its really hard but youll never know how hard it is until you experienced it first hand.
