BWCs criteria are specifically meant to focus on the animal - TopicsExpress

BWCs criteria are specifically meant to focus on the animal testing status of products and that products being vegan, vegetarian, organic etc. are a bonus. Animal testing is not only the main focus of BWCs endorsement but also that of the Leaping Bunny and other overseas organizations. We do not claim that our endorsement covers every animal issue, nor do we claim that endorsed products are cruelty-free, which is a term used by companies to mislead consumers. We refer to them as being manufactured in compliance with our humane criteria and these criteria are plainly spelled out for consumers. If people want to be strict about a product being completely cruelty-free then they must take into consideration whether the printers ink on the packaging has been tested on animals; if any ingredients have been obtained at the expense of animals habitats; if the petrol used to transport the products contain substances that have required animals testing; if the sales outlets (company/supermarket) sell any products of animal origin; if the product is owned by a company that has any connection to activities that lead to environmental damage or animal exploitation. There are more conditions that would have to be considered, but to do so would make it virtually impossible to use any commercial products at all and would impact on our choice of foods, clothing and even on our choice of holiday destinations! That is why we should all make a decision on the level of commitment we wish to make to improving our lifestyle choices and try to improve on that over time. (b scott)
