Bakken is hell on earth & thats not a metaphor. It was extremely disturbing news listening to the women speak in the Indigenous peoples tent at Bioneers this year, but the most important thing Ive heard & most heartbreaking. Taking oil out of the ground is extremely destructive to the environment, both environment as ecological term but also a as a place people live. We both know these things while very much are sheltered from really sensing its truth. Some people live it everyday. Transportation of oil is extremely dangerous & the rate of accidents which are happening is that its constantly!!! It began to hit home how much the technology for these unsustainable systems is actually not there, now. The infrastructure for carrying this oil in tanks is not …there. Its not secure. It doesnt exist. In the article it speaks of challenge of how to clean up & equipment necessary for spills, & the route for carrying oil going over major water sources, i.e. for 3/4 of a million people. I really hope wake up from this nightmare & everyday, we gotta be building our sustainable future. Praying for Richmond so they can elect good leadership in upcoming votes.
