Bannow Bay Special Protection Area (SPA): Appropriate Assessment of Intertidal Oyster Cultivation INIS ecologists have been contracted to carry out an assessment of the wintering bird population of Bannow Bay SPA. This 5 month survey will see INIS ecologists carrying out 4 low tide counts and one high tide count of all species within the SPA between October and February; three bird surveyors will count all birds simultaneously on each survey date quantify all bird species in terms of biomass, diversity and distribution. INIS has also been contracted to complete a full Appropriate Assessment of Intertidal Oyster Cultivation within the SPA. Detailed assessment methodology will be used to quantify any potential displacement impacts due to intertidal oyster cultivation.The criteria used to identify potentially significant impacts will be focused on the Conservation Objectives, and their attributes, that have been defined and described for the Bannow Bay SPA.
