Black Caviars Ascot win and almost loss... This story is about Black Caviars race at Ascot and what the connections said during the race (AFTER Black Caviar retired) Luke Nolan: She was the same horse, I got onto her back, the most part and the gates... But when they opened... She sprang well, she traveled nicely through the run. She didnt traveled like she usually does, she didnt travel in any usual manner. She didnt tow me into the race, when I got to the stage I actually have to give her a squeeze, to take the challenge up to the rivals. Peter Moody: From the time she got half a furlong, I thought hold the phone, Luke was sitting on her, He wasnt on a loose rein, she didnt tow up like she usually does. I thought Crikey, You know you done the wrong thing here, shes not here more than you think... Luke: I got to the point where I actually know to shake the reins. Peter: I kept probably enforcing her a little, you know it bloody steep there, Keep her on the bridle as along as you can, dont let her off, unless you got to and when I saw him reach the gun about at the 2 furlong marker, I thought holy hell. Luke: At the time, you dont think much of it but to get fairly of a few hits of her life because to give her enough of those positions without needing so, I just thought she may have been a bit convective and I may have been a bit convective by the fact that I let her eye late thinking the whole thing. Peter: It was an heart in the whole way for me, I never felt like that in a race before. Luke: All I want is to look after this mare this win force but we got there in one piece, I thought I had to raise one, I thought I will let her coast and normally she would but she stopped significantly underneath me and let the rest of the other horses into the race. I responded purely by instinct, I shit myself when I saw them coming I thought I had it one but being on a horse like that, you dont get a great gage when they stop underneath me, cause they such effluent horse. Peter: I saw Luck ease, I said shit One of the owners: We actually standing in the owners area which is just past the finish line and differently where we were standing we havent won. Owner 2: It was kind of a shock to work out if we won or lost because everyone had different opinion about she go there Owner 1: and than the crowd just roared...
