But Jesus called them to Him, and said, “You know that the princes of the Gentiles EXERCISE DOMINION over them, and they that are great EXERCISE AUTHORITY upon them. But IT SHALL NOT BE SO AMONG YOU: but WHOSOEVER will be GREAT among YOU, let him be YOUR MINISTER; And WHOSOEVER will be CHIEF among you, let him be YOUR SERVANT: Even as the Son of man CAME NOT to be MINISTERED TO, but TO MINISTER, and to GIVE His LIFE a RANSOM for many” (Matthew 20:25-28)… There’s such a MAJOR IDENTITY CRISIS in the Church in that EVERYBODY who DESIRES to BE SOMEBODY goes out of their way to ATTACH a TITLE to themselves in order to be RECOGNIZED. This SELF-APPOINTED RECOGNITION is designed to attract PRESTIGE and show AUTHORITY and DOMINION over those not FORTUNATE to NOT have a TITLE attached to their name. Nobody wants to be a SERVANT, as though to be such is a CURSE and PROFANITY. Not that you cannot have an authoritative POSITION and still be a SERVANT; but MOST of the TITLE-MONGERS in the Church today place their own selves upon PEDESTALS and carry an AIR about them that OTHERS should RECOGNIZE the PEDESTAL they’ve put themselves on. Most of those in the Church with LOFTY TITLES – especially if the TITLE belongs to the 5-fold Ministry Apostle Paul introduced to the Church – are HARDLY EVER found SERVING anyone but themselves. Someone has to do almost everything for them, and make sure they receive the BEST of whatever is AVAILABLE. You can HARDLY get them to even SPEAK to you, let alone GREET you first. And don’t DARE address them WITHOUT FIRST attaching their SELF-APPOINTED TITLE to their name because they may not acknowledge you, or may even look upon you with such DISDAIN that you wish you’d never spoken to them at all! But if Jesus can be a SERVANT – who is God – why are WE bent on being LORDS of and over OTHERS? Considering the ARROGANCE exhibited by the TITLE-MONGERS, is it any wonder Jesus COMMANDS us ALL to be SERVANTS in the Kingdom of God? And not just His SERVANT, but also God’s SERVANT to ALL people!!! “For whosoever EXALTS himself shall be ABASED; and he that HUMBLES himself shall be EXALTED” (Luke 14:11).
