Campbell Co. Recap and onto BOA this weekend!: Dear HCMB Family, Thanks to all for a wonderful start to our competitive season this past Saturday at Campbell Co! To recap the day, the band placed 1st in class 5A and won best percussion and finished 4th overall in preliminary performance with a score of approximately 60 out of 70. In the evening final, the band played with more energy and increased the score by 2 full points! HC ended in 4th place overall. We performed roughly 2/3 of the show while many groups have completed their shows. Each week we will continue to add very important elements to our show so this was a very encouraging 1st weekend out for the marching band! The students must continue to prepare with the highest levels of focus and commitment in order to continue to gain confidence and raise the level of achievement and execution. Thanks to the “army” of parents who helped make this all possible! From the pit crew to hospitality to chaperones to uniform crew to our faithful supporters, etc. it was truly a “family” effort on Saturday! We can always continue to refine our process, but it was encouraging to see and hear everyone on the field and the work off the field! We will continue to host our “Pack the Parking Lot” on the evenings of our longer practices at the end of each week! This Thursday, I will give the parents places in the show where it would be good to applaud :-) Often times, shows are designed around audience reaction and the audience participation actually helps fuel the energy and emotion. Also note the schedule below including 8th grade band night on Friday at our 1st home football game. We could use your help in welcoming our 8th grade students! SCHEDULE this week Mon. 9/15 (today) MB rehearsal 3:45-6:15 Band Parent Meeting at 7:00 PM in the band room (Please come to support the kids and get more information on upcoming events) Tues. 9/16 Off Day (home volleyball game)…some sections have sectionals Wed. 9/17 MB rehearsal 3:45-6:15 Thurs. 9/18 MB rehearsal 3:45-7:15 PACK the Parking Lot…e discover how and where the audience can help our show! Fri. 9/19 Home Football Game- 8th Grade Band Night! Call time in FULL uniform is 5:30 PM…please arrive around 5 PM to change After halftime, students will change out, meet 8th graders, and then meet with directors before dismissal.
