Can you remember the lost village on the hill. The village on the hill was situated between Ber Street and King Street. It comprised of over 800 dwellings, 22 pubs, 2 schools and 42 shops, all in 56 acres with nearly 3 miles of streets and passages. All razed to the ground by Norwich Corporation in the 50s urban re-development. Little survived, notables being the Churches, Dragon Hall, and Howard House. The village on the hill, a victim of civic vandalism or just rotting slums that had to go? Pics and stats quoted are from an excellent EEN article from a few years back.
