Please know that we are sensitive to the companion animal issue. We respect your feelings and will share your concerns with company leadership. Currently, only stores in our Northern California and Mid-Atlantic regions are carrying rabbit. While the Southern Pacific region is not offering rabbit at this time, we value your feedback and wanted to provide you with some background on this issue. Other shoppers have been asking us to carry rabbit for years, but conventional raising practices don’t meet our rigorous animal welfare standards. We understand this product won’t appeal to everyone, however, for those customers who have been asking us to carry rabbit, it’s our job to make sure we offer the highest-quality product from responsible sources. To meet our customers’ requests for rabbit we needed our own set of production standards. We began a four-year process to develop and implement standards that we feel address the welfare issues in conventional rabbit production. We have found a producer who meets those standards and we are testing the program in two of our 12 regions.
