Certain sights and sounds and smells bring me back to my childhood. Two stand out today; the sound of the football game on tv and seeing my open wallet on the counter. Clearly one of the boys was digging in it for something. Quarters perhaps? I remember digging through my moms purse as a kid looking for mints or gum. She always ate white Tic Tacs, which were way too minty as a kid. There were always stray ones in the bottom of her purse. They were full of lint and always off colored from whatever lingers in the bottom of ones purse. And football.....like many I remember my dad being excited for the game. But I could never understand why he would sleep through something he was so excited for. And then hed wake up and talk about it like he watched the whole thing beginning to end!
