Community Prayer:- This prayer is based on Romans 12: Dear God, we offer ourselves to you as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to you - a spiritual act of worship. May we no longer conform to the pattern of this world, but may we be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Give us an honest estimate of ourselves, and sober judgment so that we can see ourselves, not more highly than we ought, but rather, in accordance with the measure of faith you have given us. Since we are one body, and each of us needs all the others in the body, give us genuine affection for one another, and zeal, so we can be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Amen. Lets also thank God for some of the wonderful breakthroughs weve seen in our church this week. For the world: This week of Ash Wednesday, lets pray to God for forgiveness for the way in which we treat this world and each other: For consuming too much and living lives of excess, while we do little to help the global poor and the needs of our environment. For our fear of others - be they people who disagree with our views, people who live different kinds of lives, or refugees from other nations. Forgive us for falling short of your commandment to love God with all our hearts, and to love our neighbours as ourselves ... and transform us into people who live and witness to your extravagant, relentless love for us. Amen.
