The government sees the benefit of the solar and offers help in a number of ways. • There is the 30% tax credit for installed solar systems. • There is a goal for NV Energy that 25 percent of the energy used in Nevada come from renewable resources by 2025. There is talk of increasing that goal to 45%. NV Energy is not anywhere near that production so, to encourage solar, the PUC (Public Utility Commission) has established Portfolio Energy Credits that provide monetary benefits for residential producers of electricity.
