Copied from FaceBook:As is Dear respected Brother! There is nothing bad in being cute, fashionable and good-looking. In fact, as Muslims, to dress shabbily is not an indication of religiosity. Rather, our beloved Prophet said: “Tidiness is part of Eemaan (Faith)”. However, the way you dress is the way you will be addressed. Being fashionable has to be defined in the proper Islamic context. Brother, I never intend to cast aspersions on your personality nor do I mean to look down on you in any respect. Thus, don’t presume me as an ambitious Perfectionist nor should you think of me as a ‘Haram Police’. All I want is the Face of my Lord and to see you become A BETTER YOU. For this is nothing but an admonition from a Brother who really cares! ERROR 001: Your Haircutz? CORRECTION: Dear Brother! Any hairstyle that would make a part of your head to be more hairy than the other parts is strictly Unislamic. This is termed al-Qaza’u in Arabic and the Prophet forbade it in strong explicit terms [see Bukhaari #5920]. When next you cut your hair, keep it uniform and avoid hairdos that would make a portion to be more hairy than others. Right? ERROR 002: You’re shaving your beards… CORRECTION: My brother! Why are you shaving your beards despite the explicit command of the Prophet that you should distinguish yourself from the kuffaar? Or, are you concerned about what people will say should you grow your beards? Listen, hip-hop artiste like Rick Ross among others are full- bearded and nobody seem to complain because they have nothing to do with Islaam. Why then should people raise their eyebrows and tongue-wag on you because you’re keeping your beards in following the orders of RasuuluLLAAH? Akhee, the beard is beautiful. It is an emblem of maturity cum masculinity? “Let GROW your beards!” so said the Prophet. He didn’t say: “Let OFF your beards”! Why then will you prefer to look like a woman by shaving off yours? If truly you love the Prophet Muhammad, you should also love his outlook as well because he was a thick bearded man. Common akhee! You can do it! ERROR 003: Your cloth has the picture of an animate being on it. CORRECTION: As Muslims, the Solaah is a central part of our daily routines and it is the most constant act of worship that we engage in. However, when you pray in clothes with animate object like this, it is very detrimental to the reward of your Solaah [see Bukhaari #752; Muslim #556]. My dear brother, kindly avoid wearing garments which have the picture of animate objects on them. You shouldn’t jeopardize your Solaah with something you can ordinarily avoid. Understood? ERROR 004: Your cloth is somewhat skimpy… CORRECTION: Akhee, one of the conditions for the acceptance of one’s Solaah is covering the ‘Awrah (nudity). However, with this cloth you’re wearing, there are great possibilities that your backside – buttocks – will be uncovered when you are in the position of Rukuu’ or Sujuud. My dear! Your solaah is your fastest link with Allaah. So, won’t you desist from anything that could be ruinous to this magnificent link – your Solaah? ERROR 005: You’re listening to Music... CORRECTION: My dear Brother! I cant do without listening to Music you may argue. But listen to this: Dont you know that when you listen to music a lot, then you’ll soon become over absorbed by it and you’ll find out that your mind keeps repeating the music and its lyrics even when you’ve stopped listening? Similarly, when you listen to the Qur’aan a lot, then you’ll get absorbed as well and you’ll find out that your mind keeps repeating the verses of the Qur’aan subconsciously. But, what’s my point? The point is that, when it’s time to die, your mind will keep repeating what it is used to. What would you like your mind to be repeating at such delicate moments? The verses of the Qur’aan, or the lyrics of Music? The choice is strictly yours! So, make your choice now before that dreadful moment dawns on you! ERROR 006: You’re trailing your trousers... CORRECTION: Ahkee, Allowing your garment to extend beyond your ankles doesn’t make you an extra-handsome guy. Common Akhee! Simply keep your garments above your ankles. That’s the sunnah; and interestingly, that’s the real swagger! Just give it a try inshaALLAH and Allaah will make it easy for you. My dear brother! I hope I’ve not been offensive to you in any sense as regards this post. But if I have, then, I solemnly seek your pardon. Gaskiya, I can’t give the damn to look down on you just because you are still living the lifestyle of a nigga. It is very likely that you could have good deeds that are much dearer to Allaah than Ive ever done. Afterall, few years back, this writer was also an ordinary nigga from the streets before Allaah guided his heart to the Sunnah of His Prophet. Thus, all I intend is to see you become A BETTER YOU – The Sunnah, the Better! I beseech Allaah to illumine our heart with perfect Eemaan; and may He make the sunnah of RasuuluLLAAH the dearest thing on earth for us. Alhamdhulilah am alive.
